I am a neuroscientist who is lucky enough to live in Montreal where food and cooking are an essential part of everyday life. In Quebec, cheese is king, bakeries are our point fort and public markets are a colourful avalanche of fruits and vegetables from across the province and around the world.
I learned to cook from family and friends, as well as butchers, fishmongers, vegetable sellers and a long stream of cooks and writers whose work flows through me and pushes me on. This blog will tell their stories along with mine, a reminder that no cook is an island, even if you happen to live on one.
All of the prose is mine. The photos are mine. And the errors are mine. The inspiration, however, comes from the gods.
